This is a normal situation at the moment to speak with native speakers, but what happens with non-English speakers? What does the word ‘idiom’ mean?

An idiom is a phrase or a group of words that has a metaphorical (not literal) meaning. Every language has idioms and in this case English is not an exception.   1. A blind date, have you ever been on a blind date? How was it? Did you plan it? This idiom is just a romantic meeting between two people who haven’t met before and the first time they are together is called ‘a blind date’. (tell us if you do it!) 
  2. To be infatuated, if you had a crush while you were going to your job or school, mabe, you were infatuated. Why are we telling you this?  Because it is a super strong feeling for someone only to see that feeling disappear in a few days, it means the love lasts a very short period of time.
  3. A match made in heaven, when you are a match made in heaven it means you are in a relationship that is likely to be happy and successful.
  4. To be on the rocks, in a relationship is possible to have disagreements or problems and when someone is in this situation, people can say he or she is on the rocks.
  5. Love rat, do know someone who is a love rat? Have you ever been a love rat? A love rat is someone who cheats his/her partner.

We also have the verb “to flirt”, what is the meaning of this verb? When you are attracted to someone and you attempt to show that you like her/him, so you can flirt. Of course you can flirt  by saying “you look really cute today!”, “You look really pretty tonight!”, etc.

The next phrase is used to invite someone to have a nice date, for example “ would you like to go out with me?”, if that person tells you “no, thanks”, relax, that person is not indicated.
